AH Capp and WH Robinson Reserves

You might be wondering about the construction work at these reserves? This page has been developed to keep the community informed of the current works and future development at AH Capp and WH Robinson Reserves.

WH Robinson Reserve Pavilion Upgrade

The pavilion upgrade project at W.H. Robinson Reserve was put on hold following the building contractor being placed into liquidation at the request of its creditors.

In response, Council has taken the following steps:

  • Taken possession of the site, ensured it is safe and engaged a quantity surveyor to assess the extent of works required to complete the pavilion project.
  • Council is required to tender out projects of this size and therefore the Request for Tender Documents were released on the 25th August 2018.
  • Tenders will close on the 20th September 2018.
  • Tender submissions will be evaluated 2nd October 2018
  • Council is expected to consider awarding the tender contract at the Council meeting of the 7th November 2018.
  • Work to complete the building will recommence on site mid - November 2018
  • Building completion expected to be by 30th June 2019.

As you would appreciate, this is a very difficult and disappointing situation and council apologises for any inconvenience.

Our aim is to get the works occurring as quickly as possible.

Amphitheatre Seating Works

As a result of the pavilion works being placed on hold, the adjacent amphitheatre seating works have also been put on hold as the commencement of these works are contingent upon the completion of the pavilion upgrade.

Turf Works

An upgrade to the playing surface at AH Capp Reserve is programmed to commence October 2018.

The surface upgrade will deliver a relevelled playing surface, removing the major low areas mainly located on the western side of the oval.

The works will require this ground to be closed from October to December 2018, essentially for safety reasons. Temporary fencing will be erected adjacent to the existing iron rail fence, including the open section in front of the pavilion for the duration of this project.

It is anticipated the fencing will be removed and the ground re-opened at the end of December 2018.

The following works are programmed:

  • Temporary fence installed
  • Cultivation of low sunken areas
  • De-compaction of the entire playing surface
  • Levelling / major top dressing of oval surface
  • Re-turf bare areas
  • Rejuvenate sub-surface drainage system
  • Grow-in period
  • Final top dress of playing surface with sand
  • Open ground December 2018

Cricket Nets

Works to upgrade the existing synthetic cricket training nets at WH Robinson Reserve are also planned. Construction is expected to commence in March 2019 (post cricket season) and will take approximately 6 weeks.

Further updates will be provided on this site as soon as possible.
