LW Williams Reserve Playspace Upgrade

We are upgrading this playspace and want to hear from you!

LW Williams Reserve is on Spring Street, between Regent and Bayliss Streets, Preston.

The minor upgrade will be funded by Darebin City Council as part of our continued improvement works to our parks and reserves, to create more inviting spaces for the community to enjoy.

The existing play equipment in the playspace has been reviewed as part of the process to ensure that it meets Australian Standards. The review has indicated that most of the play equipment is functioning well, except for the steps on the side which will be replaced. All equipment will receive a fresh coat of paint.

Thank you for sharing your ideas

We received a total of 29 responses to our initial survey and received some great ideas. This is helping us put together the concept drawing which will be released shortly for the second and final round of surveys.

Generally, the suggestions were to add more equipment, including those more suitable for an older age group, and to add greenery through the planting of trees and shrubs. Other suggestions included fixing the uneven grass surface, improving the signage, renewing the drinking fountain, increasing/updating furniture, creating a barrier between the reserve and Spring Street, increasing shade to the playspace, planting trees and shrubs, improving accessibility, and incorporating nature play elements.

Update 11 December 2017

The concept has now been finalised and is available in the photo gallery on the right. You may have received a letter regarding next steps for this reserve. Please review the 6 options for the playspace below and CHOOSE YOUR PLAYSPACE OPTION NOW by filling out the survey below with which option you want installed at the reserve (registration required!). Please submit your thoughts before the closing date of Sunday 21st January 2018.
