Darebin's Disability Access and Inclusion Plan

It is time for Darebin’s next Disability Access and Inclusion Plan.

This plan helps Darebin City Council make our services, events and facilities more inclusive.

It helps us meet the needs of people with a disability.

What is a Disability Action Plan?

All local governments are required to develop a Disability Action Plan under the Disability Act 2006 (Vic). We call it Darebin Access and Inclusion Plan.

The purpose of the Disability Action Plan is to:

  • reduce barriers to people with a disability accessing goods, services and facilities;
  • reduce barriers to people with a disability getting and keeping employment;
  • promote inclusion and participation in the community of people with a disability; and
  • achieve changes in attitudes and practices towards people with a disability, and stop discrimination against people with a disability.

The current Darebin Access and Inclusion Plan 2015 – 2019 is coming to an end.

What is next?

The Access and Inclusion Working Group has been established. The first meeting of the group is scheduled for 11 October 2019. We will keep you updated about the progress of the work of this group.
