Where did the name "Northern Pipe Trail" come from?
The project title 'Northern Pipe Trail' was created to help brand this project. It reflects the Melbourne Water pipe which is located beneath the majority of the trail.
As this 7km trail passes through all the suburbs in Darebin, the project name also helps unify the trail.
During the masterplan process we would love your suggestions to renaming this trail. Do you like the name Northern Pipe Trail? Or have a better idea? Let us know!
How does this project relate to the recent Melbourne Water upgrades?
The need for this masterplan has actually stemmed from community feedback during this project. Many people told us that a cohesive plan was needed to guide improvements along the entire corridor.
This masterplan seeks to continue the upgrades Melbourne Water have don, along the entire corridor. It will suggest appropriate locations for new landscaping, seating areas, way-finding signage, safer crossings, lighting, better walking and cycling paths.
We would love to know what you like or dislike about the new upgrades – as they can help shape the new masterplan.
When will the Melbourne Water upgrades be completed?
How does this project relate to the VicRoads ‘Preston to CBD Safety Improvement Project’?
