Council is developing a new Public Art Framework.


What is Public Art?

Public art is any visible art that is located in a community space. It can be permanent such as a sculpture, or temporary such as a projection on to a wall or window. Some forms of public art are ephemeral and can last only hours or days, such as a performance or a visual artwork that disintegrates.

Council can:

  • Create opportunities for artists to use public spaces
  • Provide opportunities for partnerships with private developers
  • Facilitate community participation into local arts
  • Enable community connections between people and places.
