The Darebin community is now invited to have a say on how Council plans to generate the income needed to deliver its programs, services and capital works commitments for the next four years.

The Revenue and Rating Plan is a new requirement of the Local Government Act 2020. It is a requirement of every Victorian council and supports the delivery of the promises set out in the four-year Council Plan. Our draft Revenue and Rating Plan is now available online. A copy is also available at Darebin’s Customer Service Centres.

We are seeking community feedback on the draft Revenue and Rating Plan until 26 May 2021. See below for details.

Why is a Revenue and Rating Plan needed?

The purpose of the Revenue and Rating Plan is to determine the most appropriate and affordable revenue and rating approach for Council which in combination with other income sources will provide the funds required to finance the objectives in the Council Plan. Council is required to adopt a four-year Revenue and Rating Plan by 31 October 2021 to take effect from 1 July 2021.
