Residential Zones Review

The State Government appointed the Managing Residential Development Advisory Committee (MRDAC) to review the implementation of the residential zones. The review provided opportunity for councils, communities, stakeholders and individuals to make submissions about their experiences with how the zones were applied and how they are working.

To support this process, a series of ‘state of play’ reports have been produced by the MRDAC, which analyse the application of the zones across the state. Implementation of Darebin’s residential zones is provided in the Northern Subregion, Residential Zones State of Play report.

Further information about the MRDAC, progress updates and key dates can be found on the MRDAC website.

Council officers lodged a submission to the MRDAC and appeared in support of that submission at a public hearing in May 2016. The submission focussed on the implications of the implementation of the new residential zones in Darebin and was endorsed by Darebin Council. View the submission.

The MRDAC are due to report their findings and recommendations to the Minister for Planning.
